The Fairmont Cyprus Holiday Village is a few minutes away from the picturesque traditional mountain village of Karmi. In archaeological excavations, tombs in the shape of rooms from the Middle Bronze Age have been identified close to the village. To get there, just follow the road up the mountain passing through the village of Edremit and a quaint little basket shop, carry on past Hilarion Holiday Village and Treasure Restaurant. Other than the pretty flowers and nature trails, some sites to look out for are an old Greek Cypriot Orthodox church, small pub called The Crow’s Nest, a local art gallery with traditional paintings, a lovely restaurant called The Halfway House and the Spot Bar, open during the summer, offering sensational views over to St Hilarion in the evenings.

We also highly recommend visiting the historical site of St. Hilarion Castle, which is the most preserved ruin of the three famous mountain castles of Kyrenia (the others being Buffavento Castle and Kantara Castle). Situated on a stunning rocky crag, with ancient turrets, towers and windows, rumour has it that it was the inspiration for the fairy-tale castles of King Ludwig, Bavaria and Walt Disney’s Snow White. If you visit during the spring season, the surrounding landscape is a picturesque scene of wild, colourful flowers.

The nearest beach is the popular Escape Beach Club, also known as Çikarma Plaj, or Landing beach, being the point where the Turkish Navy landed during the peace intervention in 1974.  The historical Peace and Freedom museum, located by the beach is visited by many.  Escape Beach is well known for its variety of food and superb range of water sports as well as its beach parties.  The Kervansaray public beach offers an alternative sandy experience. Both are around a 6-7 minute drive away.

Ask the friendly staff about the short cut from the hotel onto the lower road, which is the quickest way to jump on a bust to Kyrenia Town Centre, offering you an abundance of vibrant and popular shops, restaurants and bars.
