This superb luxury resort, set on its own private bay, is the perfect location for a laid-back beach holiday. Those who enjoy being pampered will benefit from the hotel’s prestigious Spa and Wellness centre with its range of innovative and relaxing health and beauty treatments.

    Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

Once you’ve experienced The Acapulco Beach and Spa Resorts beautiful sandy beach and shallow crystal clear waters as well as the abundance of fantastic facilities that this hotel spoils you with, the only reason you will convince yourself to venture out is to do a spot of sightseeing and perhaps some present shopping.

Just at the eastern end of Acapulco Beach and Spa Resorts beach, is the remarkable scene of the ancient site of Avrysi. Dated between 4000 and 3000BC, these intriguing houses were built in man-made or naturally formed hollows by settlers from a district in Anatolia called Kilikya  – the history behind this is truly fascinating… sadly, the exposed house walls are now slowly crumbling away and over time, the site will most likely disappear into the sea…. Most definitely worth a look!

Alagadi Beach, about a 10 minute drive from The Acapulco Beach and Spa Resort, is also a popular place to visit, as its where the loggerhead and green turtles come to nest. When you exit the Acapulco Beach and Spa Resort, turn left and follow the road until you see the signs of the working place of Alagadi Turtle Beach Project.  You will then pass St. Kathleen's restaurant, followed by a small bridge. A rough track guides you past a farm and through the dunes to a large, double sandy bay. It’s a truly fascinating experience to visit on a summers evening to watch them hatch – however, it is advisable to speak to your Rep. before going as booking is advisable and organized tours are also available.

For keen golfers, The Korineum Golf course is the place to be. Only a 15 minute drive away and known as Golfer’s Paradise, the 18 hole championship golf course is suitable for golfers of all levels and ages. The sensational design, stunning landscape and remarkable views ensure golfers enjoy a breathtaking experience as well as an exciting golfing challenge.

You can catch the local buses which stop on the main road just a short walk from the hotel.  The vibrant Lapta strip with popular restaurants and bars is only about a 10 minute ride away! For our younger travelers, Ice Club is a popular summer venue for dancing the night away and it’s only a few minutes ride away from the hotel.

Immediately next door to the Ada Beach Hotel you will find the Martyrs Monument and The Peace and Freedom museum. From modern history to ancient history take time to explore and find the fascinating Bronze Age cemetery in the beautiful mountain village of Karaman situated close by.

    Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

If you enjoy walking you can take the ancient Crusader Path from the village of Ozankoy to the beautiful village of Bellapais. Instead of heading for Kyrenia from the Altinkaya Holiday Resort, go east to Ozankoy village. You will find the Ozankoy Bookshop in the heart of this traditional village, and they will give you directions. It is quite an easy walk and well worth the views when you get there! This friendly hotel has just 18 rooms and is right in the middle of Kyrenia’s old town, tucked away on a narrow street leading down to the harbour. Rooms are simplistic, but comfortable, and the upper floors have excellent views of the harbour. All guests benefit from the hospitality of The Owner, Hamza and his family. Located a few steps from the historical port of Kyrenia Harbour, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from, this is a people watcher’s hotel! Make sure you utilise the roof top bar to get a great view of the bustling harbour. If you are in Cyprus on the 20th July, we suggest you book a roof top table for one of the most exhilarating air shows you will ever see! Often missed half way around the harbour is the simply wonderful Carob and Cyprus Life museum. The museum is housed in one of the old carob warehouses and is packed full of local history. The first floor explains carob and olive production, whilst the second and third floors have exhibits of local handicrafts and even a film of times gone by. One of the best museums of Cyprus right on your door step! Kyrenia castle and its shipwreck museum at the east end of the harbour is also a must see!

    Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

The Citrus Tree Gardens does not have a beach, although it is situated close to Escape beach. This is a very popular private beach, with lots going on, including water sports and beach parties.  The Peace and Freedom Museum right next to it, featuring a historical war memorial monument is great for sightseeing.

Also ask the receptionists at the hotel how to find Golden Sands beach, next door to the Deniz Kizi hotel, or the public beach at Karavanseray, which has a lovely snack bar.

If you fancy a spot of horse riding, there are several stables offering riding lessons in Alsancak, as well as in the neighbouring villages of Lapta and Karaoglanoglu.  Most stables allow their customers to hire horses to take out in to the mountains and coasts which is a sensational experience.

If you are not going to hire a car, don’t panic. Just wait outside your hotel and flag down any of the local buses. It’s as easy as that!  The vibrant Lapta strip, with its variety of popular restaurants and bars is just a five minute ride away – we highly recommend The Fly Inn if you are looking for a bite to eat followed by some lively entertainment in a friendly atmosphere. The Calamari Restaurant offers a wonderful seafood cuisine along with  stunning views over the Mediterranean Sea.

    Club Alda Hotel
    Kyrenia
    rating rating rating

Club Alda Hotel is a small complex in a peaceful area, with stunning surroundings.  It offers a choice of simplistic traditional bungalows and bright and airy hotel rooms that offer guests enough privacy to relax in a homely atmosphere.

Club Alda Hotel is a family run combination of hotel rooms and quaint bungalows in the popular, coastal area of Lapta, between the green Besparmak Mountains and the Mediterranean sea.   The complex enjoys its gorgeous spot amongst Mediterranean lemon and banana groves and its beautiful gardens with picturesque surroundings, including a beach only 300m away.

Club Alda Hotel offers the benefits that a huge resort may not be able to provide - a cosier and secure environment, where it feels easier to make friends with other holidaymakers, a quieter dining and pool experience as well as a more personable approach from its staff, who often address guests by name and focus more of their attention on each guest's needs, ensuring a memorable holiday.

    Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

Although there is no beach at Club Alda Hotel, it is only about a ten minute walk down to the coast where you can enjoy The Cabin Beach Club.  If you don’t mind travelling a bit further, about a 5 minute drive towards Karsiyaka, you will see a signpost for Sardunya Bay, a stunning sandy beach that enjoys small boat rides and a casual lunch in its popular restaurant.  This gorgeous bay is at the beginning of the Lapta coastal walk, a purpose built promenade along the most stunning coast line area in Kyrenia.  Offering sensational views, it’s a great place to take pictures, so don’t forget your camera!

Club Alda Hotel is within the vicinity of Lambousa, which contains rich history and fascinating structures to explore, including Roman era fish tanks, which are large rectangular pools that have been constructed by cutting into the rock. You can also see the remains of the Roman harbour wall, with two churches beyond (currently  the churches are not permitted to be explored).

When it comes to finding a good choice of restaurants, you are about a 15 minute walk from the vibrant Lapta Strip along the coast, with a wide range of sea view restaurants to choose from. We recommend visiting Silver Rocks, The Calamari, The Fly Inn and The Lodge.  The latter are great for some evening entertainment, as well as a bite to eat.

If your children could do with some varied outdoor fun, ask the friendly receptionist directions to Lapithos Water Park, which offers fantastic water slides and The Wild Duck, a popular, casual restaurant with a small playground and a few small animals to enjoy.  Both places are only about a five minute drive away!

The dolmus mini busses stop anywhere on the main road and with a simple wave of your hand they will stop and you can easily find yourself in the centre of town within 20 minutes!

The Silver Rocks restaurant, only a 3 minute ride (towards Kyrenia) is a top pick in this area. Whether it’s just a coffee, drink at the bar or a fantastic meal looking over the coast you’re after, this restaurant really is the perfect choice.  They also have a pool if feel like a quick dip! The Wild Duck, 2 minute drive away from the hotel (towards Kyrenia, on your right hand side) is another favourite, making a nice stop for lunch. It is great for children with its small park outside and local animals to enjoy.

For night time entertainment, there’s JK’s bar only a few minutes drive, towards Kyrenia, take the left turning for the Sempati Hotel and follow the road. The Fly Inn & The Lodge are 5 minutes further down the main road, on the popular Lapta Strip.

    Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

With everything you could possibly desire on your doorstep at Cratos itself, it will be pretty tempting to just hibernate where you are, indulging in their wonderful amenities! However, some sensational sites are also not far and you will be glad you paid them a short visit. The Buffavento Castle is a distinctive landmark in the area with breath taking views.  There is a steep pathway leading up to the castle, so make sure you are in comfortable shoes and take a bottle of water along with you. As the highest of the three castles in Kyrenia, it’s a magnificent place for photos, as well as for exploring a rich and varied history that dates back centuries.

Set on the flanks of the Five-finger (Kyrenia) Mountains, The Bellapais Abbey is another site that is close by (about a 10 minute drive) and highly popular.  It’s also where British writer Lawrence Durrell (1912-1990) once lived!  The traditional village of Bellapais itself reeps in architectural history and is only about a 15-20 minute walk up the hill from the Abbey, you will enjoy taking in its charming mix of traditional restaurants, cafes and shops, with quaint streets winding into the mountains.  If you’re lucky you may be able to experience one of its cultural festivals that are often held in the area.  With access to pretty mountain trails decorated with wild flowers, walkers can enjoy the true Northern Cyprus experience of walking amongst the fresh scent of herbs and enjoying the untouched, natural beauty of the island.

There is also the most popular Kyrenia Harbour approx. a 15 minute drive away, home to historical museums and Kyrenia Castle as well as a large variety of shops, small cafes and bars. Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

The complex is in a secluded area, so popular attractions and amenities are not close by.  We therefore recommend hiring a car so you can get around easily and explore the beautiful area of Famagusta, really worth seeing due to its abundance of famous historical attractions and archaeological sites.  The ruins of ancient Salamis, believed to have been the capital of Cyprus in 1100 B.C. was once an immaculate Roman port.  Its large arched tombs and columns are a reminder of the remarkable cities that existed in antiquity.  The walled city is another fascinating site that is visited by many. The mediaeval walls are on average 60 feet high and 30 feet thick and you will see the remains of an interior castle that forms part of the ancient walls, the Othello Tower.  There is also St. Barnabas monastery and the Icon Museum to enjoy venturing around, as well as nature reserves and mountain trails great for walking or biking.

In the city of Famagusta you will find an abundance of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.  If you’ve hired a car, the stunning unspoilt Karpaz Peninsula is without fail, a definite must see! And if you fancy going out for a bite to eat but don’t want to go far, just cross the main road and try out The Almira Meze, it’s a lovely barbeque restaurant that has great food for a very reasonable price!

During the summer months we highly recommend you try the hotel’s speciality cooked on Sundays -  Lamb in the Well, which is cooked underground with fragrant herbs and topped with succulent, golden crispy skin. People come from far and wide to try this traditional slow cooked lamb dish also known as “Thieves Kebab”. Not only will you enjoy this mouth-watering delicacy, but you will be entertained by the brief history of this Cypriot dish, which came about when thieves would steal meat from neighbouring farms and cook the meat underground, so not have their stolen goods spotted! A distinct and memorable dining experience!

If you fancy venturing out to explore Kyrenia, the local buses run regularly from the main road, just a few minutes’ walk away. Look out for the Green Heights Botanical Gardens, on the way to Ilgaz village, very close to the hotel. This is a wonderfully presented exotic garden with an inviting and relaxing pool. A different way to spend the afternoon.

Evening entertainment is also close by, with only around a 6 minute drive to the vibrant The Lapta Strip, where The Fly Inn & The Lodge are popular for their live music and karaoke events.  With a free taxi ride to the hotel’s restaurant in Kyrenia Harbour (Niazi’s), it’s an idea to combine a quality dining experience with a night visiting the lively bars in Kyrenia to follow!

The High Life Holiday Village in Kyrenia is the perfect choice for those who just want to relax without the fancy frills and casually get away from it all. This family owned hotel is just a couple of miles from the centre (old harbour) of Kyrenia in North Cyprus.

It is not far from the harbour at all and it hosts some fantastic musical and theatrical productions.

The Church of Antiphontis and Bellapais Abbey are additional fascinating sites that are highly recommended and nearby! Traditional festivals also take place in Bellapais Village and it would be a missed opportunity if you happened to be around at the time and were not aware, check with the receptionist or ask your Tour Rep to find out more. Also, easily over looked and in fact nearer to High Life is the new harbour. It’s a quiet spot down near the sea, with lots of small boats moored up. Although everything you could possibly need to entertain yourself on holiday is within the glorious walls of The Kaya Artemis, don’t forget that its fortunate location also has the benefit of being close to some incredible historical sites.

    Cyprus Paradise Experts Recommend

When it comes to sightseeing, you don’t have to look far. Zeytinlik village itself is one of the oldest villages in Cyprus, formerly known as Templos, due to the Templar Knights rumoured to have lived there in the Middle Ages. The fact that Zeytinlik village leads to one of the three exits of St.Hilarion Castle is further proof that backs the theory of the Templar Knights once residing in the beautiful area. St. Hilarion Castle is still to this day a majestic attraction definitely worth seeing.  Only about a ten minute drive away, it boasts breathtaking views (and lots of stairs!). It’s one of the most complete castles of Kyrenia, stunningly set on a rocky crag with fascinating ruined turrets, towers and windows.  Rumour also has it, that it created the inspiration for both the fairy-tale castles of King Ludwig in Bavaria and Walt Disney’s Snow White. If you happen to be holidaying during the glorious days of spring, the surrounding landscape is charmed with a beautiful array of wild, exotic flowers.

If it’s shops, restaurants, cafes and bars you’re after, Kyrenia Town is a five minute drive from the hotel, home to all the central amenities you could wish for.  The historical harbour offering more of a traditional variety along with gorgeous views, traditional boat rides and historical museums is only a further 5 minutes away.  There are also plenty of lovely places to enjoy a lunch with a view along the harbour, Carob is one of our favourites. If you have a car, just on the main road behind the hotel, another gorgeous restaurant is situated in the mountains called Ezic and in addition to the Archway; it is also a popular choice for the residents of Kyrenia.  It also boasts a children’s play area to entertain the kids whilst you eat.  Further down the same main road, you can also find a state of the art gym called MPower and a fantastic bowling centre called Kings, which also has an amusement area for children downstairs.

About 5 minutes east of Kyrenia is a small sandy beach, where rocks line the shore. Diana beach charges a small seasonal entrance fee and sun loungers and jet skis can also be rented. Snacks and drinks are also at obtainable during the summer months from their small restaurant. Catalkoy beach and Alagadi beach (where you can also witness sea turtles hatching in season), are more popular choices, but slightly further away.  If you happen to be in the harbour for the day and fancy a quick dip, there is always The Dome Hotel, unique being the only hotel in the harbour that has access to its own private beach (entry fee required).  Ask the friendly receptionist or your knowledgeable Tour Rep for further details and help with directions.

Set between the mountains and the sea, with a sandy beach, this is an ideal spot for couples and families. The beach area is reached by a brightly-painted tunnel running under the coastal road, and there is a beach restaurant and bar here during the summer months, alongside the seafront freshwater pool and Jacuzzi.

The main hotel building and restaurant is set around a courtyard with the large freshwater pool in the middle. Rooms are comfortable and offer particularly good accommodation for families. The hotel is in the charming village of Lapta, with restaurants and shops within easy walking distance.

Booking for this restaurant is essential due to its popularity.  It enjoys a fantastic atmosphere, looks over the coast and serves one of the most extensive menus on the island.

St Fanourios church is also to be found in the village of Karaoglanoglu, overlooking the sea. It is small and well preserved historical place of worship, dedicated to St Fanourios. As myth has it, it is built at the point where he fell and met his end whilst climbing the sleep cliffs. Dedicated to St George, unlike most of the Orthodox churches in North Cyprus, this is still an active place of worship, and you will often see a candle burning on the small altar upon your visit.

Another highly recommended place to visit is the beautiful traditional village of Karmi, full of flowers and with views to the cost and inland to St Hilarion castle. Start your exploration at the village car park, and if your visit happens to be on a Sunday morning, you can also enjoy dropping by the former Greek Orthodox Church, currently a quaint little North Cyprus museum.

One of the huge benefits of staying at The Salamis Bay Conti Resort is the fact that it’s close to famous historical attractions and archaeological sites, just waiting to be explored. It was home to various historical groups over the course of its history, including Assyrians, Egyptians, Persians as well as the Romans. Its vast Roman gymnasium, baths, theatre and large arched tombs and columns serve as a reminder of the magnificent cities that existed in antiquity.

The remarkable walled city is another fascinating site that we highly recommend visiting.  From the resort you can simply jump on the free shuttle bus that goes into Famagusta twice a day and in only 10 minutes you will find yourself arriving at the old city of Famagusta, encircled by massive historical walls, on average 60 feet high and 30 feet thick, dating back to the mediaeval times. Even the kids can let their imagination run wild on the mere site of the Othello tower, an interior castle that forms part of the ancient walls.

Other than these incredible ruins, there are also famous monasteries, such as St. Barnabas and museums like the Icon Museum as well as nature reserves and mountain trails suitable for walking or biking.  If you’ve hired a car, the stunning unspoilt rural, cultural and traditional area of the Karpaz Peninsula is without fail, a definite must see!

The Vuni Palace Hotel is very close to the centre of Kyrenia, so it's just a 5 minute drive to visit the harbour’s historical castle followed by a spot of shopping and an authentic Turkish coffee at a traditional café. The local mini buses (“dolmus”) run frequently, stopping anywhere along the main road or you can easily jump on the hotel's 'Noddy' road train (shared with the Oscar Resort next door) that runs at scheduled times to and from Kyrenia centre.

Often missed half way around the harbour is the Carob and Cyprus Life museum. The museum is housed in one of the old carob warehouses and is packed full of local history. The first floor explains carob and olive production, whilst the second and third floors have exhibits of local handicrafts and even a film of times gone by.

The traditional village of Bellapais, offering panoramic views is also a highly recommended place to visit. Only 2 miles away from the centre of Kyrenia, it’s home to the famous Bellapais Abbey. Visitors to this popular site will find plenty to see, and can enjoy taking in the Gothic art as well as exploring the monastery.
