You will be warmly welcomed to the stunning northern side of the island by our professional and friendly tour guides, who will be waiting to meet you at Ercan Airport and accompany you to your comfortable transfer. After a relaxing coach ride, you will arrive at a fantastic hotel in the popular town of Kyrenia, where you will enjoy spending your first three nights, starting with a delicious evening meal provided in their exquisite restaurant.
After a relaxing breakfast, you will relish an entire day in Kyrenia, with St.Hilarion Castle being your first breathtaking experience - built by the Byzantines and Crusaders at an altitude of 732m! You will then be intrigued by the picturesque village of Bellapais, set on the flanks of the Five-finger (Kyrenia) Mountains and have a chance to explore its quaint winding streets with traditional cafes and shops, as well as its highlight, The Bellapais Abbey, former home to British writer Lawrence Durrell (1912-1990). A freshly cooked traditional lunch at a restaurant with stunning views across the Med, will then be followed by a stop off at a genuine leather factory and shop, before enjoying the rest of the day to wander freely around the historical town of Kyrenia. You will be delighted by its picturesque harbour, towered by a huge Byzantine castle and array of enticing cafes lining the sparkling sea waters, fascinating museums and shops for souvenirs!
Today you will be spending an exciting day in Nicosia - Europe’s last divided capital, still retaining its old beauty, character and culture. Kyrenia Gate, one of the three gates on the walls surrounding the old city of Nicosia, built in 1567 by Venetians, is your first stop, then the Venetian Column. Next is the impressive St.Sophia Cathedral (Selimiye Mosque), the largest building in the city representing a masterpiece of 14 th century Gothic architecture. Enjoy the cultural wonders and folklore experience of The Grand Bazaar (Bandabuliya) and the Great Inn (Great Khan), before crossing over the border to Southern Cyprus for a spot of shopping and whatever takes your fancy for lunch! Returning to Kyrenia will be a spectacular journey via the Five Finger Mountains, stopping off at a charming jewelry shop along the way to pick up a last minute gift or a holiday treat for yourself!
If you need day to yourself to relax and enjoy the hotel and its facilities, perhaps a Turkish hamam or a stroll along the beach, then the choice is yours! For those of you opting for some more action and adventure, a day in Guzelyurt awaits you! It’s the greenest part of North Cyprus, where tradition, culture and history combine. You will be taken on a stunning route of scenery through mountain roads to arrive at the astonishing Archeological Museum, St.Mamas Church and Monastery before indulging in an authentic Cypriot lunch at a local restaurant. Pick up some exciting authentic treasures at the local market before visiting Lefke Old Ottoman Village, once home to Byzantines and Venetians. Make the most of your last Kyrenia sunset as you’re off to the captivating Town of Famagusta for the next three nights!
Today you will be in for some amazing new discoveries! First is off to visit the Monastery of St. Barnabas with its famous “room of icons” and Archeology Museum. You will be able to experience the fascinating ancient town of Salamis and explore the Roman City with its historical ruins of the gymnasium, forum and thermal baths. Lunch will be enjoyed on a sea side resort, before stopping off to admire the traditional hand weaving methods of carpeting. Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque (also known as St Nicholas) a stunning 14 th century Gothic Cathedral, will be the next valuable highlight and you will also venture the thrilling site of Famagusta Old Town, encircled by historical walls, which are massive (on average are 60 feet high and 30 feet thick) dating back to mediaeval times. You will then return to enjoy your first evening in your fabulous Famagusta hotel!
There are some sensational coastal views to witness on the way to the Karpas Peninsula, the most natural and beautifully unspoilt part of North Cyprus, yet to be explored by many. The day includes a visit to Bogaz fishing village, where you can enjoy a coffee by its charming port. You will then be taken to an authentic olive press, where you will witness the interesting process as well as sample and purchase different types of pure olive oil. The delightful Dipkarpaz Village is next, followed by a freshly cooked traditional lunch at Golden Beach, the longest and most stunning beach on the island! After viewing the remarkable Apostolos Andreas monastery and having the chance to collect its natural spring waters, said to have healing powers, it’s the perfect time for a relaxing swimming break at the Golden Beach (seasonal only) before embarking on your journey back to the hotel.
A wonderful opportunity on the last day to cross the border and go on a trip further south to the attractive town of Larnaca. However should you wish to remain in the North and be left to your own devices to adventure, shop in town or simply indulge at the hotel, the choice is yours! Larnaca’s St.Lazarus Church, built in the 9 th century, is the most impressive sight in town and is the first landmark of the day. Next you will visit the 2 nd largest Salt Lake on the island, famous for its nature trails and home to migrating flamingos as well as the Hala Sultan Tekke on its west bank, a famous mosque built in 648 AD. After stopping at the popular Palm Tree Beach, a typical Cypriot lunch will be enjoyed, followed by a short break in Lefkara village and Vavatsinia Village. A local winery and a spot of wine tasting will keep you entertained, before returning to the hotel to make the most of your last night in town!
After checking out of the hotel, your friendly Transfer Rep. will arrive to comfortably drive you to Ercan Airport for a pleasant return journey back home, relaxed & full of nice memories!
